1. Hi All,

   So were back, and I really havent been Lazing about since I went offline. Heavy in pre production on my feature film project (Seperate blog to come soon)

   Ive also been stock piling enteries for the blog to ensure a steady flow of movies right through till Im actually shooting these films.

   Well this film is one I only saw in the last few months, its the first Powell and Pressburger movie I saw and I absolutely fell in love with it!

   I especially love the last 20 minutes or so, the evening light is so vibrant and evocative!

3. Great choice of film. The Bluray transfer is incredible, one of the best I’ve seen. Can you imgine what this would look like if someone was let loose using digital colour correction?

   I saw the restored 35mm print at my local cinema a few years ago and even by modern standards and viewed on a full size screen , Jack Cardiff’s cinematography and Michael Powell’s direction are jaw dropping.The whole look is so lovingly crafted by such talented people. You really would not guess it was entirely shot in a studio. The matte artwork is unsurpassed. Astonishing.
   That climactic scene with the bell on the cliff top, the action timed to the sweeping, swirling score …..wow!
   One of the greatest examples of film-as-art.
