There’s also 2.39 and even 2.55.
Hi, 2.39 is the Digital projection ratio that we make for cinemas, (DCP) at 2048×858 pixels. This uses the full width of a “2k” projector. The 1.85 version is 1998×1080 which uses the full height of the projector.

When people say “Two-three-five” or 2.35:1, if they aren’t talking about anamorphic 35mm films from the 50’s and 60’s, they *really* mean 2.39:1… (“Two-three-nine”). The change took place about 1971 or so, and it was just the official standard changed to better hide splices made by the projectionist by having a slightly thicker frame line.
The site needs 2.39:1 and also 2.76:1 so we can post frames from Hateful Eight.
I shot once at 2.66, what a great aspect ratio!!!
